Dave Robinson, head of Stiff records, directed most of Madness’ videos. He and the band came up with all the great ideas. Dave credits guitarist Chris Foreman with most of the funniest stuff.
Stiff Records was a little independent label and didn’t have any money to make slick videos. They made up for the lack of funds with great creativity and sense of humor. I like their videos the best.
There’s no direct connection with Monty Python but I bet that they were fans of the show.
